BenQ reveals W5850, W4100i projectors for luxury home entertainment

BenQ officially unveiled two new 4K projectors – the W5850 and W4100i – at the Smart Home Expo 2025 in Mumbai, targeting India’s growing luxury home entertainment market and a niche segment of high-net-worth individuals and AV enthusiasts seeking premium private cinema experiences.

Designed exclusively for use in dedicated home theatre rooms, the projectors are priced at ₹7,00,000 for the W5850 and ₹4,00,000 for the W4100i – far beyond typical consumer electronics and clearly positioned outside the mass market.

These models are intended for users who build professionally configured home theatres and demand advanced features such as high dynamic range, true-to-life colour calibration, and seamless AV system integration. With rising interest in digital-first film releases, streaming services, and immersive home setups, BenQ is offering these projectors as part of a broader ecosystem tailored to refined tastes and long-term investment.

Cinema-grade tech for serious AV enthusiasts

The W5850 is tailored for large, darkroom home cinemas and supports native 4K resolution on screen sizes up to 200 inches. It uses a 2600-lumen blue core laser light source and delivers 100% DCI-P3 colour coverage, aided by BenQ’s proprietary CinematicColor technology. This ensures accurate and vivid colour reproduction, according to BenQ. The projector also supports HDR10+ and HLG formats, using the company’s HDR-PRO image suite, capable of adjusting contrast and brightness in real-time to preserve depth across both bright and dark scenes.

In contrast, the more compact W4100i offers more flexibility for smart home environments. It features a 3200-lumen 4-LED light source that allows for better performance in rooms with fluctuating ambient light. The unit includes built-in Android TV, Netflix certification, and AI Cinema Mode with ambient light detection, making it more suitable for living rooms or flexible entertainment zones. These features help the projector adapt dynamically to lighting conditions without sacrificing quality.

Both projectors feature motorised lens shift and zoom, real-time picture adjustment, and are compatible with third-party calibration software – key capabilities for users and integrators focused on getting the most accurate and immersive experience possible.

For cinema, not for gaming

While both models offer low input lag of 17.9 milliseconds and support for enhanced audio return channel (eARC) for Dolby Atmos sound systems, BenQ is positioning them firmly as cinema-first projectors rather than gaming setups. This strategic positioning is in line with the preferences of its target user base, which prioritises image fidelity, cinematic sound, and room-wide integration over fast refresh rates or gaming-specific optimisations.

“These launches reflect our commitment to delivering authenticity and immersion in home entertainment,” said Rajeev Singh, Managing Director of BenQ India & South Asia. “Whether it’s a standalone home theatre or a curated living room solution, today’s consumer demands more, and our strength lies in offering a complete ecosystem.”

With the W5850 and W4100i, BenQ is strengthening its stake in India’s premium AV market. As OTT platforms dominate entertainment consumption and cinema-going becomes more selective, a growing class of users is investing in high-end projectors that offer theatre-quality experiences at home.
